The Eagles and Packers Rivalry
The rivalry between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers is one of the oldest in the NFL. The series between the two teams began in 1933, as the Packers defeated the Eagles 35-9 at City Stadium in Green Bay. The Packers swept the first nine contests in the series and won 16 of 18 from 1933-70.
Over the years, the two teams have only met in post-season fixtures on three occasions. The most memorable match between the Eagles and Packers came in the 1960 NFL Championship Game. The Eagles defeated the Packers in a come-from-behind, 17-13 victory at Franklin Field for the team’s third (and last) NFL Championship. Philadelphia was the only team to defeat Vince Lombardi in a postseason game. The legendary coach won nine straight playoff games after that loss. Before that 1960 game, the Packers had won 13 of the teams’ first 14 meetings, including the first nine (1933-46).

WR Jordy Nelson (58) is 2 Receiving Touchdowns away from 60 Career Receiving Touchdowns.
WR Jordy Nelson (6,772 - 6th) can move into 5th place on the Packers All-Time Receiving Yards List with 147 more receiving yards. He would pass FL Boyd Dowler (6,918 - 5th) along the way.
WR Jordy Nelson (58 - 4th) is 8 Receiving Touchdowns away from moving into 2nd place on the Packers All-Time Receiving Touchdown List. He would pass WR Donald Driver (61 - 3rd) and WR Sterling Sharpe (65 - 2nd).
QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Jordy Nelson have connected for the 54 touchdowns which is the second most by a duo in team history behind QB Brett Favre and WR Antonio Freeman (57 TD passes). With 4 more touchdowns, Rodgers and Nelson will take that honor.
DE Julius Peppers (140.5 - 6th) needs 1.5 more Sacks to move into 5th place on the NFL's All-Time Sack List. He would pass HoF DE Michael Strahan (141.5 - 15th).
LB Clay Matthews (70.5 - 2nd) is 4.5 Sacks away from claiming 1st place on the Packers All-Time Sack List. He would pass out DE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (74.5 - 1st).
Matchups to Watch
Eagles CBs Jalen Mills/Leodis McKelvin vs. Packers WR Jordy Nelson
Leodis McKelvin is in the concussion protocol, but the Eagles still felt comfortable enough to release Aaron Grymes on Monday to make room for wide receiver Paul Turner. If Jalen Mills has to step in, he's already been tasked with facing a litany of the NFL's top receivers this season. Jordy Nelson isn't 100 percent recovered from the ACL injury that kept him out for all of 2015, but he still leads the league with nine receiving touchdowns. Nelson has full trust of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will force the ball to him even if he's covered. Rodgers and Nelson have perfected the back-shoulder fade. Plus, Rodgers will buy time in the pocket with his legs for his receivers to get open. Nelson has 53 catches on 96 targets for 663 yards this season.
Eagles DT Fletcher Cox vs. Packers G Jason Spriggs
The narrative in the media is that defensive tackle Fletcher Cox has struggled since winning NFC Defensive Player of the Month honors in September. If you look at the stat sheet, yes, he has not registered a sack since the October 9 game in Detroit. But he's been disruptive against the run and the pass. Spriggs is a rookie second-round pick who was selected to play tackle. The Packers' offensive line is good at the edges, but injuries have impacted its interior. Starting right guard Don Barclay was injured last week against Washington and Spriggs came in to help shore up pass protection. Whether it's the rookie or Barclay is able to return, pressure up the middle is one way to keep Rodgers in check.
Eagles TE Zach Ertz vs. Packers S Micah Hyde
The Packers were victimized for five plays of 28 yards or more in the second half of Sunday's loss to Washington. Two of those plays went for touchdowns, and another put the ball on the 4-yard line. This is as good a week as ever for someone with deep speed like rookie Bryce Treggs to come in and make a huge play. But Zach Ertz can't be overlooked here. Since Week 10, Ertz leads all tight ends with 20 receptions and also has 187 yards. Jordan Reed had five catches for 79 yards against Green Bay. One week earlier, Tennessee's Delanie Walker posted 124 yards and a touchdown. With a plethora of injuries on Green Bay's defense, Ertz could feast on Monday night.
Eagles RT Allen Barbre vs. Packers LB Nick Perry
Green Bay's defense is struggling, but Nick Perry is providing some pass-rush punch off the edge. Perry leads the Packers with seven sacks. He has gotten to the quarterback in seven of the Packers' 10 games this season. The Eagles have to reshuffle their offensive line once again due to Halapoulivaati Vaitai's knee injury. Former Packer Allen Barbre is expected to start at right tackle in Vaitai's place. Barbre has played well inside at guard this season, but can he make the transition to the edge again. Barbre has eight career starts at right tackle.
